A terrace and a pod, finally joined up,
This design & build project in Troon was a vast undertaking, but as such ended up being one of our proudest to date.
The clients had an urbanpod installed at the bottom of the garden. It sat on its own at the far end, with nothing between it and the house that connected the two.
They wanted a design that brought the whole plot together. That's where we came in, designing and building a garden that did exactly this ourselves...
The main terrace is laid in clay pavers, with creasing tiles set into the surface to form patterns through it. Creasing tiles are small and thin and have to be set individually, so it is slow work, but it gives the terrace a level of detail you do not get from paving alone. Limestone borders frame it.
A second raised terrace runs around the side of the house, using the same limestone and clay pavers so the two areas relate to each other.
A curved clay paver path connects the terrace to the pod. Topiary balls are planted along its length, and mature specimen trees are set through the wider garden to give it height from the start.
Lighting runs throughout, alongside a large planting scheme. A new clay paver driveway and a new lawn complete the plot.
Textured, connected, established — two separate spaces turned into one garden, with a curved paved path linking house to pod, framed by limestone borders and specimen trees that give it height from day one.
