A one-of-a-kind garden built to an ambitious design, where limestone paver stackers and charred oak sleepers meet layered planting beds beneath a timber pergola.
Delivered with Gloss Projects and London-based design studio Studio Topo, this was a highly intricate, hugely ambitious build — a genuinely singular space, shaped by Studio Topo's Dan.
Designed by Studio Topo, a London practice, for a New Town address.
Gorgeous limestone paver stackers and charred (burnt) oak sleepers set the material palette, brought together with a timber pergola, a water feature and layered planting beds.
A bespoke bench, built by Dan himself, and a superb lighting scheme finish the space. The planting has grown into a lush, jungle-like feel that makes the garden feel genuinely singular.
Access was very difficult, and every part of the build demanded real precision — from the paving details to the planting structure. It took careful planning and problem-solving throughout, but the end result speaks for itself.
Lush, technical, unique — a garden built to a standard few sites could support.
