A feature-rich garden across front and back, where a Cor-Ten steel moon gate, Shou-Sugi-Ban timber uprights and a dry-stone cedar bench are joined by a bespoke UrbanPods garden room.
The brief called for a design that worked hard on both sides of the property — front and back — with plenty of features and points of interest built into the space rather than a single statement piece.
Blonde sandstone dry stone walling runs through the garden, all of it hand-built. Granite cobbles and porcelain paving form the main surfaces, with artificial grass stepping stones laid in where a softer route was wanted.
Cor-Ten steel is used for the sculptural elements throughout. A circular Cor-Ten moon gate anchors the design, with matching Cor-Ten lighting and further Cor-Ten details set within the beds so the material carries through the whole garden. Shou-Sugi-Ban timber uprights add further texture, and a curved bench sits within the dry stone, giving the seating area some warmth against all the hard landscaping.
