A richly naturalistic garden where sandstone paving and a bespoke curved retaining wall, hand-cut coping stone by coping stone, frame a planting scheme that has settled beautifully into its surroundings.
Delivered during a major property refurbishment, this project saw us meet the client on site and build the landscape to a design already prepared by Nick at Burton Hall Garden Design, working alongside the main contractor throughout.
With the design in place, the brief was pure execution: bringing a scheme with real structural ambition to life around an ongoing refurbishment, without disturbing what was already working.
Sandstone paving runs throughout, alongside a retaining wall that wraps around one side of the property and a bespoke curved wall finished with hand-cut coping stones. A gravel driveway with planting to either side leads in, and a naturalistic planting scheme by Nick has matured beautifully in the years since. A large existing lawn was left untouched, exactly as it should be.
The coping stones were the hardest part of the build: sourcing oversized stones, marking them out, then cutting and buffing each one to shape. It took skilled, patient stonework to get the crisp finish the design demanded.
Natural, mature, timeless — a garden that looks like it has always been there.
